Sewing Quilting Cosplay and Textile Kick off party!

Join us for our sewing, quilting, cosplay and textiles kick off party!

Chris Dahl of Sewing 4 Fun Inc. recently moved her business from Elgin to St. Charles IL, inside of Fox.Build in hopes of growing her customer base and reaching a new demographic.

Fox.Build who calls themselves a makerspace, hackerspace and coworking space, but often says at their core “they are a social club”. They love to bring together creative people, in hopes of making things happen. Whether that is to jump start an idea or business. This sewing, quilting, cosplay & textile party will focus on their new textile room. Their hope with this new addition it will bring in new members who are interested in sewing, quilting, cosplay and other areas focused around textiles.

The textile room equipment

Our new sewing, quilting, cosplay and textile room currently has (2) brother cs6000I sewing machines, a Janome Huskylock 910 serger, a hand cranked leather sticher. We have recently added leather punches & tools for hand sewing leather if that’s your thing. We also have a 4 x 8 foot cutting table which is counter height. No more bending to cut fabric. Don’t forget about our adjustable manikin! This room has everything you need to jump start your sewing projects.

Party details

I believe this is going to be an epic event and one you won’t want to miss! We are reaching out to the entire sewing, quilting and cosplay community.

This is the beginning of what could be the best place to come and learn or grow your sewing skills. Meet Chris Dahl our area expert who will be running this program. She has over 40 years of sewing under her and has spent the better part of the last 20 years sharing her knowledge through various channels which include community colleges, park districts, girl scouts, and her own studio Sewing 4 Fun located in Elgin IL. There is nothing she is more passionate about then helping her students achieve their goals in sewing. Areas she has experience in include: general sewing, quilting, costumes, and home decor. She even knits and crochets so if that’s your thing she might be able to help you there too!

My kick off party is scheduled for Saturday January 19, 2019, starting at 4:30 with drinks and light snacks. Take a tour the facility, check out our sewing room, meet other creatives, network and enjoy the busy nightlife of the downtown St. Charles area.

After seeing the textile room don’t forget to check out all the other cool rooms which include a wood shop, metal shop, digital fabrication room, (3-D printers, laser cutters, vinyl cutters, etc.), sound proof room for video, music recordings or podcasting. The textile room is open for use 24/7 to members and by appointment for private or group lessons offered by Chris Dahl of Sewing 4 Fun.

I was hoping to get some information, as I am inquiring for my niece. She is an aspiring sewer, with no experience, and she is looking to learn how to create a mascot-type cosplay costume. She creates her own anime characters and wants to bring them to life. I am not sure if you offer classes, as she is not skilled in sewing. I am hoping you can give me some additional information on your services and if there are classes I can enroll her in.

    thank you for your time.
