Our Story

Sewing 4 Fun has been sharing the joy of sewing and quilting with adults and children as young as 6 since 2012.

Chris Dahl is a passionate sewer and quilter. She loves everything about the process of creating, especially if it involves textiles.

Her classroom is full of fun and support. No matter who she works with, she is always patient and encouraging. (Some say it’s like having your own cheerleader in class with you). In the early years these lessons took place in her home.

In 2016, she moved her business to a storefront in Elgin. This gave her more room to teach, and expand her business.

In 2019, she joined forces with a local makerspace & co-working space in St. Charles called Fox.Build.  The next chapter of her business is yet to be written. However if it's anything like the last 7 years...it's definitely going to be fun, "Sewing 4 Fun" that is!

Hello Chris,

I just wanted to thank you so much for introducing my kids to sewing. Both of them went home and pulled out my sewing machine and started having fun with the scraps I had. There were a lot of proud smiles and “ta-das!”

Thank you

The girls have so much fun, I am very glad we found you.
See you in a couple weeks!

Sharon B.

“Thanks so much for offering this. I’m so glad I found you – Mackenzie loves it so much and was so excited to finish her pillow when she got home.

Continuing Education Dept, Elgin Community College

“I love your style, you have a real talent for teaching kids.”
“You are an excellent teacher and I appreciate your flexibility and creativity. “

“My daughter just loves your sewing camp. She had never used a sewing machine before and just loves that she can now.”
Said the parent of a child in my kids sewing camp

“I am not afraid to use the sewing machine anymore like I was the first day of class.”
“And I can’t believe I was able to make this drawstring backpack all by myself. I bet no one will believe me when I tell that I made this.”
(said one 8 year old child who had never sewn before)

Lori F.

“You are so patient. I would have never been able to make this quilt without your help.”

Mary Jo

“See this smile on my face? You put it there! Thank you for all your help and phone support with my project.”

To Chris,
With many thanks for all of your time, effort & contributions to Project Threads of Hope, the second phase of Quilts for Japan relief efforts for Japans survivors.
Your kindness has changed so many lives.
